  • I grew up in a town of 800 people I knew everyone in my town I could get in a fight with someone in a car and there was a 100% chance of at least one of my family members in the car with the person to yell at me for being rude. As a teen if I snuck out it wouldn't last if my parents realized I was gone all 800 people would be looking for me like I was a criminal or if my parents didn't know they would all shop owners and employees know my parents they'd see me without my parents and call them everyone knew each other there was no hope to pull stuff that people can do in a city

  • .. 400 people isn’t a “town,” ... it’s not even a village. A village has between 500-2500 people. He grew up in what’s geographically considered a “hamlet.” Lol

    Jaclyn RachelleJaclyn Rachelle3 ай мурун
    • @Phillip Kopczynski Most of them are probably villages. See what they say when you call them "villagers."

    • Lol. I perform in a lot of small towns and if I called them a "cozy Hamlet" people would start throwing Bud light and trucker hats at me

    • Let's all be kind here. ❤ some people have a misconception of people with special needs because they have never worked with them, lived by or interacted with a child or adult with special needs. I testify to you every one of them, weather they have Downs Syndrome, autism, spina bifida etc. They all have amazing souls and love for everyone. Kids with downs are the most loving, will hug everyone with a giant smile and tell you they love you even if they are a stranger. You will never know love until you've seen it through the eyes of one of these children. @mek i don't think you meant to be rude by your comment and all is forgiven ☺ i hope you have the chance to make friends with a person with Downs. They are everywhere, go say hi and introduce yourself. If you ever meet my daughter she'd climb up and give you a giant koala bear hug. (I have to watch her like a hawk sometimes) bee well everyone ❤😁 let's all spread love and joy. The world needs it more then ever right now ❤😁🌎❤

  • had a cousin with it, and a neighbor's son later in life with difficulties. ran into a lady waiting at the pharmacy, and her (obviously disabled) ~12 y.o. son was prattling on about kitty cats. she looked a little worn and semi-apologetic. i pulled out my flip phone with the screen background of our Baxter at his dinner bowl, and "introduced" him. kid was delighted, mom was nearly in tears. instant hero to both. it just takes acceptance and personal empathy.

    • @Marcy I'd had never heard that until someone saw this bit and didn't believe I had a sister with DS because I was saying "DS sister" rather than "sister with DS" I love the concept and it changed the way that I talk about people with developmental disabilities even though I grew up immersed in special education. 😃

      Phillip KopczynskiPhillip Kopczynski3 ай мурун
    • @mek (i mean this kindly, i realize this is unfamiliar territory to you) in the special needs community we use "people first" language... I.e. not "downers" but "a PERSON WITH downs syndrome" they are not their diagnosis, they're a person first. 😉❤
