  • Before getting my CPAP (Snorky), I was driving a jeep through the jungle in Viet Nam when I needed to cross a stream. Driving across the stream the water kept getting deeper. Soon it was over my head. As I held my breath, my wife woke me saying, "Honey, breathe. You stopped breathing.". Weird. Never been to Viet Nam before.

    • Undiagnosed, but recently started using doTERRA Serenity blend and Copaiba. I'm sleeping (& breathing, evidently) much better. Such a relief!

    • I’m glad you’re okay. ❤️ It’s scary stuff. I haven’t been officially diagnosed, so I don’t have a cpap. I’ve been woken up before too being told to breathe. Worst feeling ever. I’m pretty sure one time I started to cry.

  • Brian might want to lose a little bit of extra weight, exercise on a daily basis and get a humidifier. Also, he needs to lower alcohol intake and banana consumption and alter his diet because there are foods that you need to avoid when you have sleep apnea.

    • @BelaayyasMusic By the way, your self-care is top notch. P.S. - Perhaps I could be called a medical intuitive rather than an internet doctor. Thank you for the compliment.

    • @Allison Querze -- Per my Dr, I drink 2 gallons per day at minimum and consume no less than 3 grams of sodium. I have often found myself short of sodium because we don't eat much prepackaged food, and end up having to take sodium tablets. Doing that has given me the BP that I have now, which is just high enough to finally go back to work. The whole point of what I was trying to say is that positive thinking, good foods, etc., can only go so far in managing health. At the end of the day, some people like me are too broken (and frankly, artificially alive), others are unable or unwilling to make drastic lifestyle changes that go against standard American behavior, and some aren't even aware they have a problem that requires fixing in the first place. Please know that if anybody is in ill health and under a doctor's care, they've heard it all before.

    • @Allison Querze - lower my blood pressure??? My body forgets to *have* blood pressure and I get saline infusions to increase my blood volume. I generally am at 78/45, but when it drops, I have been down to 51/29. And no, I wasn't conscious. I'm an extremely relaxed person. I love my job, my husband of 20 years is living perfection. I have animals I cuddle with, go biking in national parks, etc. Central apnea is a problem with your central nervous system -- I need a good electrician, not a chiro.

    • BelaayyasMusic, @Allison Querze is right. There are a lot of natural ways to help I’m not healthy enough myself to vouch for my sleep apnea being completely gone, but it has improved. Medications will sometimes make things worse than you would believe. I’m epileptic and on medication, but what the doctors don’t tell you is that the Keto diet has proven to cure epilepsy. Many of our issues stem from our gut. It’s called Leaky Gut. I highly recommend you look into that a little more. I used to have full blown seizures, but then I went off of gluten and I haven’t had any since. I started to sleep a little better too. I’ve also been to a chiropractor and they work wonders too. I have gained a full 2 inches and can breathe better. So while I don’t necessarily think lifestyle can completely cure apnea, I do believe it can work wonders. You may even be able to stop taking blood pressure medication (if you are). Our bodies are self regulating and are consistently suffering from our lack of taking care of it in this culture. It’s super difficult, but I can infinitely promise you that you will feel better than you ever have.

    • @BelaayyasMusic Central Sleep Apnea: Perhaps you need oxygen and could benefit from spending time in nature with long walks and conscious breathing in/out. You could go to a chiropractor in order to get a neck and/or spine adjustment to reduce tension and promote better breathing for yourself. You can listen to a Guided Meditation video while you sleep that is specifically designed for sleep apnea, which will increase relaxation in your subconscious. Blood Pressure: It is possible that you can faint from taking certain high blood pressure medications, so you may want to read all of the side effects on it, if you are taking any pills. It is important to stay very hydrated and reduce your sodium intake. If you are doing things that you love to do, you will lower your blood pressure in a natural way.

    • I’m honestly not sure what the difference is. Maybe I have sleep paralysis....maybe they’re the same thing. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I just know that both my grandpa and dad sleep with CPAPs because of sleep apnea. The rest of my family has trouble sleeping too though, even my twelve year old sisters. I’ve been woken up in the middle of the night being told to breathe and one time I started crying because it hurts emotionally too.

      kyla jkyla j3 ай мурун
    • kyla j that sounds terrible I’m so sorry to hear that ! I know about sleep paralysis which can be quite scary but I’ll have to look up sleep apnea and find out more about it

Dr Shrimp Puerto RicoDr Shrimp Puerto Rico3 ай мурун
    • Some things are valid, especially when it comes to the things American doctors tell you. However, sleep apnea IS a real thing and it’s scary and really not healthy. It runs in my family, and I haven’t been diagnosed, but I’m pretty sure I have it. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night essentially choking...on nothing. It’s so awful. And the worst part is that you don’t always wake up when it happens. People think that if you get 8 hours of sleep you can function, but you can get 8 hours and not get the REM sleep you need. But if someone brings out a machine and says it’s because they can’t breathe at night, how does that seem not real?!?!
